The Sports to Watch This Weekend

The two No. 1 seeds remaining in the men’s tournament each play Friday night, and they each face an upstart No. 5 seed.

Alabama, the overall top seed, will meet San Diego State (6:30 p.m., TBS), while Houston will face Miami (7:15 p.m., CBS).

The women’s tournament has also lost two No. 1 seeds to upsets. The remaining No. 1s both play Saturday, against No. 4 seeds.

Virginia Tech will take on Tennessee (6:30 p.m., ESPN2), while South Carolina will try to keep its undefeated season alive against U.C.L.A. (2 p.m., ESPN).

The N.W.S.L. will open its season Saturday with a match between the North Carolina Courage and the Kansas City Current (2 p.m., Paramount+).

Regular-season games will be interspersed with a Challenge Cup before the league slows down in July and August for the Women’s World Cup.

It’s the last call for the World Golf Championships’ match play event, which will end after 24 years.

The winners of the round-robin group stage advance to knockouts on Saturday, with the semifinals, third-place match and final playoff on Sunday (3 p.m., NBC).

The World Figure Skating Championships wrap up Saturday with the men’s free skate (6:30 a.m., USA).

Japan’s Shoma Uno, the reigning world champion, was first after the short program and will try to fend off the 18-year-old American Ilia Malinin, who plans six quadruple jumps in his free skate.
